HEALTH & SAFETY

Surface Preparation:

  • All surfaces must be clean, free from any contaminants and be completely dry.
  • Fill any imperfections with the correct filler.
  • Where necessary, a coat of suitable primer must precede the application o f this product.

New Surfaces:

  • Masonry: All types must be completely dry and primed with Masonry Plaster Primer.
  • Wood: Knots must be sealed with knotting (wood filler) and primed with wood primer.
  • Mild Steel: Remove rust and degrease. Rinse thoroughly. Prime with Metal Primer.
  • Galvanised Iron: Clean to a water break-free surface with iron Cleaner, Rinse thoroughly and prime with Galvanised Iron Primer.

Previously Painted Surfaces:

  • Enamel in good condition: Sand thoroughly to ensure good adhesion. Clean thoroughly and apply Universal Undercoat.
  • Acrylic in good condition: Prime with Masonry Plaster Primer or Alkaline Sealer.
  • Paint in poor condition: Strip completely and treat as per new work.
  • Chalky Surfaces: Remove as much chalk as possible. Apply a coat of Alkaline Sealer, then prime with Masonry Plaster Primer.
  • Do not paint quick dry products over alkyd enamels or universal undercoat.

Application:

  • Stir contents thoroughly with a flat paddle.
  • Apply one coat of the appropriate primer.
  • Finish with one or more coats of paint to achieve complete obliteration.
  • Allow overnight drying between all enamel base coats (primers) and 2-4 hours between water-based (acrylic) coats.

Thinning & Cleaning:

  • Acrylic Emulsion – Water.
  • Universal Undercoat – Mineral Turpentine.
  • Enamels, Woodseals & Varnishes – Mineral Turpentine.
  • Quick Dry Primers – E Thinners.
  • Quick Dry Enamels – E Thinners.
  • Floor Paints – Mineral Turpentine.
  • Road Line Paint – E Thinners.
  • Sanding Sealer – Laquer Thinners.

N.B Spray Application:

  • Use protective clothing and mask when spraying.
  • Ensure good ventilation during use.
  • Use correct thinner.
  • Do not thin more than 5%.
  • Do not apply first coat too thick and allow for proper drying between coats.
  • Clean apparatus after use.

Precautions: 

  • Do not paint in wet or cold weather.
  • Ensure good ventilation during use.
  • Avoid contact with eyes. In the event of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Dangerous if swallowed. Seek medical attention immediately. Do not induce vomiting.
  • Keep lid closed at all times and store in a cool, dry place.
  • Purchase sufficient product from the same batch for better colour consistency.

Protect our Environment:

  • Do not pour left over paint down the drain.
  • Unwanted paint should be brushed out on newspaper, allowed to dry and disposed of via domestic waste collections.
  • Empty paint containers should be left open  in a well ventilated area to dry out. When dry, recycle containers via recycling programmes.
