Surface preparation

Surfaces must be clean, dry and properly primed or sealed.

NEW WORK:

New plaster must be given adequate drying time, moisture content must be less than 15%.

Apply one coat of Duraline Plaster, Masonry or Acrylic Plaster Primer.

PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES:

Surfaces must be in completely stable condition.

Loose flaking paint and efflorescence must be brushed and completely removed and any bare metal areas e.g. nail heads, spot primed with an appropriate plaster, masonry or acrylic primer. Old enamel or oil painted surfaces must be well sanded. Apply one coat of Duraline Universal Undercoat

Application Instructions

Paint should be thoroughly stirred with a flat paddle or spatula to an even consistency. It is also recommended to stir the paint frequently during the course of the paint project.

Product supplied ready for use. Apply with a brush or roller. Thinning is not recommended except for application by spray, thin with maximum 10% water.

NOTE: Surfaces must be clean and dry before application.

Surfaces should not be primed in wet or cold (below 10ºC) weather.

Drying times must be extended during wet or cold weather.

Ensure good ventilation during application and drying.

Do not apply direct to bare metal surfaces.

Drying time

Drying times are generally related to air circulation, temperature, film thickness and

Number coats, and will be affected correspondingly. The figures given in the table

Are typical with:

* Good ventilation (outdoor exposure or free circulation of air)

* Typical film thickness

* One coat on top of inert substrate

Substrate temperature                  5°C                 10°C               23°C               40°C

Surface dry                                         4 h                  3.5 h               1h                   30min

Through dry                                      16 h                10 h                4 h                  3 h

Dry to recoat, minimum                16 h                10 h                4 h                  3 h

The given data must be considered as guidelines only. The actual drying time/times before recoating may be shorter or longer, depending on film thickness, ventilation, humidity, underlying paint system, requirement for early handling and mechanical strength etc. A complete system can be described on a system sheet, where all parameters and special conditions could be included.

Cleaning

Tools, equipment and spillages can be cleaned up with warm, soapy water, before the primer dries. Remaining paint should either be stored in a smaller container for touch-ups over a period of not exceeding 12 months or left open to dry through in order for appropriate disposal.

Typical paint system
